Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2026
1. Who we are
STUDIA (the “service”) is provided by Valerio Ferri – VAT number IT18640391001, Via Monte Bianco 181b, 00012 Guidonia Montecelio (RM), Italy (“STUDIA”, “we”, “us”).
- Phone: +39 352 287 7053
- Customer support, complaints and withdrawal: support@stud-ia.app
- Privacy and data protection: privacy@stud-ia.app
- Reports of illegal content (point of contact under Regulation (EU) 2022/2065): abuse@stud-ia.app
- General information: hello@stud-ia.app
2. Scope and acceptance of these Terms
These Terms govern the use of STUDIA and the contracts for the purchase of credits. You accept them when you register; you cannot use the service without accepting them. The information about the service, prices and withdrawal that we show you before the contract is concluded, in the app or on these pages, forms an integral part of the contract. The service is intended for adult individuals who use it for their own studies: if you act as a consumer, you enjoy all the rights granted by the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005) and by the mandatory rules of your country of residence, which these Terms do not limit in any way. These Terms are available in Italian and in the other languages of the interface; if the meaning of a clause is unclear, the interpretation most favourable to the consumer prevails.
3. The service
STUDIA is an AI-based study web application available at app.stud-ia.app (it can also be installed as an app on your device), with information on the website stud-ia.app. It lets you:
- upload your materials (PDFs, images and photos, Word and PowerPoint documents, text, audio and video) and extract their text;
- generate study materials — outlines, summaries, mind maps, flashcards — and use the advanced modes, including Genius, Merge, Compare, Investigation and Research;
- study with Senior, the AI-based assistant you chat with about your materials;
- organise your content and share it with other users (section “Sharing and showcase”).
4. Account
You can create an account with your Google account or with an email address and password; in the latter case we ask you to confirm your email address through a message we send you. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date, keep your credentials safe and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use. One account per person is allowed and accounts cannot be transferred. You must be at least 18 years old to register and use the service; minors may not use it, even with the permission of a parent or guardian. Declaring that you are of age is a condition for using the service: if the declaration turns out to be false, we may close the account. If you believe a minor is using STUDIA, write to privacy@stud-ia.app.
5. Credits, prices and payments
- Prepaid credits. Paid features are used with credits, which you can buy in packages on the Credits page of the app. There are no subscriptions and no automatic renewals.
- Prices. Package prices are shown in euro and are final prices, inclusive of all charges: no VAT or other amount is added at checkout.
- Payment. Payment takes place on the secure Stripe page, using the payment methods shown there (for example payment cards). We do not store your card details. Credits are added immediately after payment and you receive a confirmation by email.
- Cost of operations. Before every paid operation the app shows you its cost in credits and your balance, and the operation starts only after you confirm. For guidance: Outline 3 credits, Summary 2, Map 5, Flashcards 2. Extracting text from photos, scanned PDFs, audio and video, and the advanced modes, have a cost that depends on the amount of material and that you see before confirming. The cost shown in the app prevails over these indications. If an operation fails, the credits spent are returned to you automatically.
- Senior and “usage”. Chatting with Senior consumes a dedicated unit, usage, calculated on the actual cost of each answer. Usage comes from: a free allowance credited only once, when you confirm your email address (it is not topped up automatically); the bonus usage you receive with every credit purchase; any gifts; and the voluntary conversion of credits (1 credit = 100 usage units, with any volume bonuses and the maximum limit shown in the app). Balance, consumption and conversion rules are on the Usage page.
- Free credits. After you confirm your email address you receive 10 free credits; you can receive bonus credits through the referral programme and credits from showcase sales. Free credits may be revoked in case of abuse (for example multiple accounts).
- Nature of credits. Credits can only be used for STUDIA features: they are not money, cannot be converted into cash and cannot be transferred outside the features provided, without prejudice to the right of withdrawal and the other remedies provided by law.
- Payment documents. After payment we send you a purchase confirmation by email with the amount paid, the date and the order reference. For tax documentation needs, write to support@stud-ia.app.
6. Validity of credits, account closure and discontinuation of the service
Purchased credits do not expire as long as your account is active and the service is provided.
- If you close your account, any remaining credits are lost: before doing so, check your balance and, if you are still within 14 days of the purchase, ask for a refund of unused purchased credits (section “Right of withdrawal”).
- If we close your account because of a serious breach of these Terms on your part, we refund the unused purchased credits, without prejudice to our right to compensation for any damage.
- If we discontinue the service, we notify you at least 30 days in advance and refund the unused purchased credits.
7. How the contract is concluded
The contract for the use of the service is concluded when you create your account. To buy credits:
- choose a package on the Credits page of the app and press “Buy”: a window opens with a summary of the package, the credits and the final price;
- in that window, tick the mandatory box by which you request to receive the credits immediately and acknowledge the consequences for the right of withdrawal (next section); you are asked for this at every purchase and, until you tick it, the “Go to payment” button stays disabled;
- press “Go to payment”: you are taken to the Stripe payment page, where you see the summary with the final price and can check and correct the data entered before confirming; below the “Pay” button you find the text of your request again;
- with the payment the purchase contract is concluded: the credits are added and you receive a confirmation email with the amount paid, the date, the order reference and the text of the request you confirmed.
8. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer, you may withdraw from any purchase of credits within 14 days of the conclusion of the contract, without giving any reason and at no cost.
- Immediate performance. Before paying, by ticking the mandatory box in the window that opens when you press “Buy” on the Credits page, you expressly ask us to make the credits available immediately and to start providing the service during the withdrawal period, and you acknowledge that, for the credits you use, the service is performed immediately and you lose the right of withdrawal for that part (Articles 51(8), 57(3) and 59(a) and (o) of the Italian Consumer Code). The same text, together with the information on withdrawal, appears below the “Pay” button and is repeated in the purchase confirmation email.
- What we refund. The price of the purchased credits not yet used, pro rata: price paid for the package × unused credits ÷ credits in the package. For this calculation, free, referral and sales credits are deemed to be used first, then purchased credits; if you bought more than one package, the credits from the oldest purchases are deemed to be used first. Credits converted into usage for Senior are deemed unused for the part of converted usage not yet consumed.
- How to withdraw. Before the deadline, use the online function “Withdraw from contract here” on the Credits page of the app: choose the purchase, check your name and email address and confirm with “Confirm withdrawal”. Alternatively, send an explicit statement to support@stud-ia.app, or use the model withdrawal form (not mandatory). If you use the function in the app, we immediately send you an acknowledgement of receipt by email with the content of your statement and the date and time it was sent; if you write to us, we confirm receipt by email without undue delay.
- Refund. Without undue delay and in any case within 14 days of the day we receive your notice, using the same means of payment you used for the purchase unless you agree otherwise, and at no cost to you. Refunded credits are deducted from your balance.
9. Legal guarantee of conformity
The digital service is covered by the legal guarantee of conformity provided for by the Italian Consumer Code (Articles 135-octies et seq.): if the service does not conform to the contract, you are entitled to have it brought into conformity or, in the cases provided for by law, to a price reduction or to terminate the contract. To report a defect, write to support@stud-ia.app. Content generated by artificial intelligence may contain errors, inaccuracies or omissions: this is a characteristic of the service, described in the section “AI-generated output”. We tell you so before the contract is concluded and, when you register, you accept it expressly and separately by ticking a dedicated box, distinct from the acceptance of these Terms (“I understand that AI-generated content may contain errors and must be checked”). Under Article 135-undecies(4) of the Italian Consumer Code, the presence of errors in the output, accepted in this way, does not in itself constitute a lack of conformity; all other guarantee rights remain unaffected.
10. Your content
The files and content you upload remain yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, valid only for the duration of the service (except as provided for copies already received by other users in the section “Sharing and showcase”), to store, process (including through the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy) and display them in the app, solely in order to provide you with the service; if you share them, the licence includes making them available to the users you share them with. Only upload material you have the right to use: do not upload illegal content, content that infringes third-party rights (including the copyright of lecturers and publishers) or other people’s personal data without a valid legal basis. We recommend that you do not upload special categories of data, such as health data, that are not necessary for your studies.
Reviews. Only users who have made at least one purchase can leave a review. A review is published on the website only if the author allows it, with the first name, the initial of the surname and the university, if any, after a check that excludes illegal, offensive or irrelevant content, regardless of the rating.

11. AI-generated output
STUDIA uses artificial intelligence systems (see the AI transparency page). When you write to Senior, you are interacting with an AI system, not with a person. Outlines, summaries, maps, flashcards, chat answers and other output are generated automatically and are labelled as such.
- Output may contain errors, inaccuracies or omissions, even when it is based on your materials and cites their sources: always check it before using it.
- Output is not professional advice (for example medical, legal, financial or psychological) and does not replace critical study, teachers or human judgement.
- You are responsible for how you use the output, including with respect to your university’s or school’s rules on the use of AI in assignments and exams.
- The Research feature shows bibliographic data from third-party academic sources (Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, PubMed, arXiv, Crossref, CORE, DOAJ, dblp). STUDIA is not affiliated with or endorsed by these sources; the U.S. National Library of Medicine does not endorse or recommend STUDIA. The rights in the works cited remain with their respective owners.
12. Acceptable use
You may not use STUDIA to:
- upload, generate or disseminate content that is illegal, defamatory, discriminatory, violent, that incites hatred or that exploits minors;
- infringe third-party rights, including sharing or selling, without authorisation, books, lecture notes, slides or other copyright-protected material;
- process other people’s personal data without a valid legal basis;
- circumvent security measures, usage limits or billing systems, or attempt to extract prompts and models (reverse engineering);
- access the service with unauthorised automated tools (scraping, bots) or overload it;
- create multiple accounts to obtain free credits or to evade a suspension;
- resell the service or commercially exploit what it generates, presenting it as your own without being entitled to do so.
13. Sharing and showcase
You can share subjects, folders, topics and outputs with other users via a link.
- Visible profile. To share, you must complete your visible profile: whoever opens the link sees your name, university, course, year of study and avatar, as well as the title and preview of what you share.
- Price. You can share for free or set a price in credits, in multiples of 5, from 5 to 500 credits. Whoever unlocks the content pays the price in credits, after a confirmation.
- Commission. On every paid unlock STUDIA retains a commission of 20%; the remaining 80% is credited to you in credits. Earned credits can only be used within STUDIA and cannot be converted into cash.
- Responsibility of the sharer. Only share or sell material that is yours or that you have the right to share: you are responsible for the content you share. The showcase is reserved for users acting as private individuals: you may not use it in the course of a business or professional activity.
- Recipients. They obtain a copy for their own personal study and may not share it again. The relationship between the sharer and the recipient is between private individuals: the consumer rights provided by European Union law do not apply towards the sharer; the rights towards STUDIA for the platform service remain unaffected.
- Copies already received. Copies received by other users stay in their library even if you delete the original or your account: for these copies the licence continues solely for the personal study of the users who received them.
- Removal. We may deactivate a link or remove shared content in accordance with the next section.
14. Illegal content, reporting and moderation
Single point of contact under Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act), for authorities, users and anyone who wants to report content: abuse@stud-ia.app (languages: Italian and English).
- How to report. Write to abuse@stud-ia.app stating: the link or code of the content; the reasons why you consider it illegal; your name and email address (not required for reports of child sexual abuse); a statement that the report is made in good faith and that the information is accurate and complete. On shared-content pages you will also find the “Report this content” link.
- What happens next. We confirm receipt, examine the report in a timely, diligent and objective manner, and inform you of the decision and of the means to challenge it. Reports are reviewed by a person.
- Measures. Depending on the seriousness, we may: deactivate a link or remove content; block sharing or the credits earned through the showcase; suspend or close the account. We may also act on our own initiative when we become aware of a breach. Anyone who repeatedly infringes third-party rights, or repeatedly submits manifestly unfounded reports, may be suspended.
- Statement of reasons. If we take a measure against you, we provide you, unless the law prevents it, with a statement of reasons indicating: the measure and its duration; the facts and whether the decision follows a report; any use of automated means; the clause of these Terms or the legal provision applied; the means to challenge it.
- Challenging a decision. You can challenge the decision by replying to our message or by writing to support@stud-ia.app: a person will review it. You always retain the right to go to court.
- If we become aware of information giving rise to a suspicion of a criminal offence involving a threat to the life or safety of persons, we inform the competent authorities.
15. Suspension and closure of the account
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile page (and, if we ask you to accept updated Terms, also from the page where we ask for your acceptance), or by writing to support@stud-ia.app: your data is deleted from active systems, except for the data we are required by law to keep and the copies of content you shared that other users have already received, as explained in the Privacy Policy. If you are entitled to a refund of unused purchased credits, ask support@stud-ia.app for it before deleting your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms or endangers the security of the service or of other users, with a measure proportionate to the breach: we inform you of the reasons and you can challenge the decision as described in the previous section. For credits, the rules of the section “Validity of credits, account closure and discontinuation of the service” apply.
16. Liability
We undertake to provide the service with due care, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available and error-free: there may be interruptions for maintenance, updates or issues with our providers. We recommend that you keep a copy of your original materials. To the extent permitted by law, in case of slight negligence we are liable only for damage that was foreseeable when the contract was concluded, and we are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of AI output without the verification described in the relevant section. The mandatory rights of consumers, including the legal guarantee of conformity, and our liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence and personal injury remain unaffected.
17. Complaints, applicable law and jurisdiction
For any complaint write to support@stud-ia.app: we reply as soon as possible and in any case within 30 days. We do not adhere in general to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body; if the complaint is not resolved, we will tell you in writing which ADR body is competent and whether we intend to take part in the procedure (Article 141-sexies of the Italian Consumer Code). The European ODR platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025. These Terms are governed by Italian law; if you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain applicable and the courts of your place of residence have jurisdiction (Articles 66-bis and 33(2)(u) of the Italian Consumer Code; for consumers resident in another EU Member State, Article 18 of Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012).
18. Changes
We may change these Terms or the features of the service for legal, security, technical or product-development reasons. We notify you by email or in the app at least 15 days in advance, except for changes required by law or urgent for security reasons. Changes do not entail any additional cost for you.
- Changes to the Terms. Material changes require your acceptance at your next login. If you do not accept them, you can close your account directly from the page where we ask for your acceptance and obtain a refund of the purchased credits you have not used, by asking support@stud-ia.app before deleting your account.
- Changes to the features. If a change to the features has a more than minor negative impact on your access to or use of the service, we inform you by email reasonably in advance and you may terminate the contract free of charge within 30 days of the notice or of the change, if later, and obtain a refund of the unused purchased credits.
